Jebel Ali expands vehicle handling capabilities
DP World has expanded its automotive logistics capacity to meet growing demand at Jebel Ali Port in the UAE.
DP World has added 13,000 ceu of capacity with the introduction of a 2.6 million sq ft (241,547.9 sq m) vehicle storage yard at terminal 4 of the port. This comes after a strong H1 2025 in vehicle volumes at the port.
The expansion, which includes an 800 m quay that can handle up to three ro-ro vessels concurrently, brings the port’s total storage capacity to 75,000 ceu. With this expansion, ro-ro operations at Jebel Ali have been relocated from terminal 1 to terminal 4. DP World believes that this will both improve berth availability and improve turnaround times.
In the first half of 2025, Jebel Ali handled 545,000 vehicles at the port – up 28 percent year-on-year. Imports made up 65 percent of the total, primarily from China, Japan, Thailand, India and South Korea.
