Captain Charles You

Captain Charles You has served as the Representative of Georgia Ports Authority at China since Jan 2008, in the role of oversee the Port of Savannah / Brunswick’s Customers and Sales initiatives at China.  Prior joining the Georgia Ports Authority, Captain You served as deputy managing director of Wilhelmsen Huayang Shipping Service Co., Ltd from 2004 to 2008, A Wilhelmsen Ship Service joint venture in China. In addition, he served as the regional quality manager at North East Asia (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong), Wilhelmsen Ship Service in that same period.   

Prior Wilhelmsen Huayang, Captain You was appointed by China Maritime Service Center, a division under the Maritime Safety Administration, Ministry of Transportation, as Fleet Captain of Huayang Maritime Center, between 2003 and 2004. 

Further before China Maritime Service Center, Captain You has served as ship officer and ship captain in Cosco Dalian Crew Manning: In his seven years captain’s career, Captain You has served varied oversea shipping companies: Captain of Greek Multi-purpose Ship “Clipper Harmony”, Captain of VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) of AMCL Hong Kong; Trainee Captain and Acting staff Captain on Star Cruise Ships in a “Chinese crew takeover” project.  

As the Team member of Trade Development of Georgia Ports Authority, visit and meet with Management / Executives of Ports Customers regularly at China, Promoting the trade development via Georgia Ports: Customers of the ports are: Walmart /Amazon / Home Depot / Target / Lowes / IKEA  etc.,  which the shippers of 95% of the loaded containers are frequently contacted by GPA trade development teams.
